In the year 2020, like a lot of you, we got some time to reflect on our priorities and refocus on things that genuinely made us happy. For us, happiness was found to be in our most meaningful relationships, the ones that stood the test of time. The ones that were truly cared for and given the attention they deserved.
We believed our work need not be any different and set out on a path to build something with timelessness and care at its core. Something that could encapsulate this feeling of joy for our community. Having been in the business of crafting leather goods for luxury brands for thirty years, we didn’t have to look too far. When we saw men and women in the streets of London and Milan wearing handbags crafted in our factories, we could see the way it made them feel.
Keeping this in mind, we founded Gioia, pronounced joy-a, which means joy in Italian and is our attempt to provide people with moments to cherish and spread happiness along the way. Right from the curation of materials to the designs, our collections are designed to last and are an ode to the ones who stick with you through thick and thin. The one who care for every little thing of yours. The ones who are a constant source of joy.
At Gioia, happiness stays at the centre of what we do. This is why we have partnered with animal welfare foundations and decided to contribute a part of our proceeds to them. It’s the least we can do for our furry friends, who provide us with countless moments of joy themselves. If you have purchased something from us, we thank you for your contribution in making the world a better and more joyous place.
When people ask us the business we are in, it’s really simple: We’re in the business of spreading happiness and helping people achieve a state of gioia. Handbags are just a medium.
